About Maddie

Hi! My name is Maddie Grissom! I use she/her/hers pronouns.
I am a Teaching Artist, Actor, and Stage Manager. I received my BA in Theatre for Youth from the University of Northern Iowa. I am currently in my second year of working at The Rose Theater in Omaha, Nebraska working as a Teaching Artist after a year-long Fellowship.

Starting in High School, I began to work with students with exceptionalities and began to find ways to make theatre accessible to all. I continued that mission throughout college and at The Rose Theater. I believe theatre should be accessible to all young people of all backgrounds, all abilities, and all ethnicities.
In my (very rare) free time, I love to be with my family and go on adventures. I find exploring the world around me fascinating. Whether it be finding a local diner, mini-golf course in the middle of no-where Iowa, shopping local stores, or going on bigger adventures, I love learning about where I am at.

One of the coolest places I have been is the Big Island of Hawaii. Walking on the bed of an active volcano, zip-lining through a gorgeous forest, ATVing through the mountains, wake-boarding on the beaches, I was in my element the entire week we were there.

In all reality, I would not be where I was today without my friends. They continuously encourage me to be the best Maddie I can be.

I met this group of friends at UNI. None of them in the theater department with me. But they all came to every one of my shows. They were so excited to see the shows where I did "magic" (Stage Management) and were my biggest supporters.

I am lucky to have such an awesome support group with my family and friends.
